Joey Thomas, a third-round pick, Began his NFL career with the Green Bay Packers in 2004 while there he played in 14 regular season games registering 15 tackles (13 solo) from scrimmage, forced one fumble and broke up two passes.
In 2005 Joey got his first start in Week 2 of the 2005 season against Cleveland. The Saints off waivers from Green Bay acquired Joey in November to add depth to the defensive back corps.
Joey attended John F. Kennedy (Burien, Wash.) High, there he became a Two-time all-state and all-area selection as a quarterback. Joey rushed for over 100 yards four times and completed over 60 percent of his passes as a senior. He was ranked second in the state with eight interceptions on defense as a junior.
A four-year letterman (2000-03) at Montana State, Joey played in 42 career games and made 37 starts. He finished his career with 122 tackles (84 solo), including two sacks, seven tackles for loss, and 11 interceptions among 41 passes defended.
